Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Hall of Famer. Among more than 1,450 copies recorded in PSA's census reporting, just fourteen examples – fewer than one percent – have attained a higher, unqualified tier. (Not a single specimen has been graded PSA GEM MT 10.) The inaugural release of Play Ball baseball cards was highlighted by a small core of superstar players, and the subject of this outstanding second-year collectible, Joe DiMaggio, stood at the very head of that elite class. This example of card number 26 in the production reveals the Yankee Clipper in a pose of uncharacteristic mirth. The photographic image adorning the card is clean and precisely focused, and the reverse (which features the slugger's name in mixed upper- and lower-case letters) is exceptionally well-printed. The item's image alignment exhibits uncommonly favorable balance, and its corners are fundamentally perfect. An instant centerpiece for any fine collection of pre-war baseball legends! Superlative Near Mint to Mint condition.
