The 1942 St. Louis Cardinals’ 106-48 record was just enough edge out the Brooklyn Dodgers by two games for the National League pennant. After dropping the first game of the 1942 World Series to the New York Yankees, the Cardinals ran off four straight wins to complete the championship season. Offered here is an Official National League Ford C. Fricke baseball that has been signed by 27 members of the 1942 World Champion St. Louis Cardinals. Hall of Famers Stan Musial, Enos Slaughter and Billy Southworth have signed their names on this ball. The signatures of Johnny Hopp, Whitey Kurowski and Walker Cooper have signed their names on the sweet spot. Other signatures included Marty Marion, Max Lanier, Terry Moore, Mort Cooper, Harry Walker, Whitey Moore, Buzzy Wares, Jimmy Brown, Howard Pollet, Ray Sanders and several others. “Worlds Champions 1942” has been handwritten in black pen on the Spalding stamp. This baseball comes from the collection of the late Gene Autry and a LOA from his widow Jacqueline Autry will accompany this item. Also, there is a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A52554) for the signatures.
