Graded NM 7 by PSA. Hall of Famer, in a debut-year gum card appearance. Among more than 1,450 copies recorded in PSA’s census reporting, fewer than four percent have attained a higher, unqualified tier. Jackie Robinson was one of the most memorable figures ever associated with the game, and inspiring stories, in abundance, exist about all facets of Robinson's career. The trailblazing player's rookie cards are viewed as important cornerstones in any accomplished card collection. One of Robinson's rookies is among the keys in the intriguing baseball series produced by Leaf Gum Co. in 1948, a notably scarce post-war issue. The high-quality specimen of that seldom-seen treasure offered here will fit nicely in any prized assembly. There has been little toning of the piece's colors over time – an unusual and extremely positive feature for cards from this sensitive, challenging issue – and all four of its corners are sharp and well-formed. This is one of the hobby's finer examples of this significant, sought-after card. Admirable Near Mint condition.
