Graded PR 1 by PSA. Hall of Famer, in his debut gum card appearance. Jackie Robinson was one of the most memorable figures ever associated with the game, and inspiring stories, in abundance, exist about all facets of Robinson's career. Accordingly, the great player's scarce rookie card is viewed as an important cornerstone in any accomplished card collection. Robinson's first card is among the key subjects in the intriguing baseball series produced by Leaf Gum Co. in 1948-49, a notably challenging post-war issue. The offered example of that seldom-seen treasure, an enticing piece compromised in grading terms by remnants of vintage cellophane tape in the four corners, will fit nicely into a nostalgic assembly. The collectible is printed on the issue's grey-colored cardstock, and bears a "1949" copyright date on the reverse. A significant, sought-after card, in nominally Poor condition.
