Offered is a 229-card near set of 1949 Bowman baseball cards. For its 1949 issue, Bowman made two major changes from the preceding year's black-and-white production. The company added color to team uniforms (while enhancing backgrounds with several different pastel shades), and expanded the set to a total of 240 cards. Boasting several Hall of Famer rookie cards and noted for its difficult high-series cards (numbers 145-240), the attractive 1949 Bowman product has always been a monumental challenge for collectors to assemble.
