Presented is a 22 x 66-inch color advertising display of former Pittsburgh Pirates great Ralph Kiner at bat in his Pirates uniform, on behalf of Sealtest Ice Cream. Sealtest Dairy Company was founded in 1940, and operated milk and ice cream plants across the midwestern and northeastern part of the United States. The Sealtest brand was ultimately acquired in 1993 by Unilever. Kiner is presented at bat, with a red placard below his knees with the legend “Get the Best – Get Sealtest” above a reproduction of his signature.
The front of the display has some tape marks on the bottom and in the middle. There is a crease in the middle where the display was folded for storage; there is some damage to the lower part where the tape has peeled off. The cardboard baseball bat is cracked in half just to the right of Kiner’s head. The back is reinforced with white tape in the middle.
