This is Mickey Mantle’s true rookie card, the first regular issue card which features the blonde haired, blue eyed Commerce Comet. And despite the PSA grade, this card has really nice eye appeal. All four corners reveal light touches of wear, commensurate with an EX-MT type card. The bold color and lack of any of those pesky black print lines which so affect this issue uphold the EX-MT tally. So does the perfectly centered, very clean reverse. However, there is a small vertical “cut” along the bottom edge leading the length of the white border, but goes no further and does not show any “light.” This fault is extremely small, and while it affects the technical grade, it does not affect the strong likeness and crisp eye appeal this Mantle rookie provides. PSA Graded GOOD 2.
