2019 Winter Auction Closing March 2
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/2/2019
The 1951 World Series would be a turning point in MLB history. With two wide eyed rookies in Mickey Mantle and Willie Mays, baseball as we know it was about to change. Offered is a baseball featuring an extensive 22 signatures from members of the 1951 World Champion New York Yankees. Headed up by Joe DiMaggio on the sweet spot, the ball is also highlighted by a very scarce, very early "Mick Mantle" variation of the Mick's formative rookie autograph. Rounding out the scarcity of this baseball is a highly rare and desirable authentic Casey Stengel, who is often seen as a club house, or does not make an appearance at all, on team signed baseballs such as this.
Other signatures include: Jim Turner, Frank Crosetti, Allie Reynolds, Jerry Coleman, Spec Shea, Joe Collins, Phil Rizzuto, Johnny Mize and Yogi Berra. The Official American League William Harridge baseball stands in fine condition with even toning, some rubbing, and saturation to the stamps. All signatures are exquisite. The triple-threat of a rookie "Mick" Mantle signature, an authentic Stengel signature, and DiMaggio on the sweet spot cannot be beat - baseball collectors, take note! This is one of only two baseballs we have ever seen with this combination. Don't miss out! Accompanied by a full LOA from PSA/DNA (AE16506).
