Armour Meats entered the baseball collecting market in 1955 by issuing 24 plastic coins inserted into their hot dog packages. The coins were manufactured in various colors, including red, yellow, blue, green, Orange and Aqua, and even with various tints to each color. The obverse features a raised profile of the ballplayer, the player’s name and team. On the reverse, centered between a baseball diamond and crossed bats design are baseball’s version of name, rank and serial number plus their 1954 statistical record. Offered is the Mickey Mantle error version which spells his last name MANTEL. This error was corrected in later runs. This coin is graded by PSA MINT 9 and is perfect in all respects. There are only SEVEN examples which grade higher. PSA Graded MINT 9.
