Offered is a 70-card partial set of Ashland/Aetna Oil basketball cards issued in 1955. These 2-5/8" x 3-3/4" cards were distributed one at a time at Ashland (Kentucky and West Virginia) or Aetna (Ohio) gas stations in the region of the particular college. Sixty-eight cards have the Ashland Oil ad backs while the remainder have Aetna Oil backs. Highlights include: Diddle (GD/VG), Rupp (VG) and Schaus (VG-). Missing Alexander, Anderson, Ashley, Bergines, Brennan, Burns, Clutter, Constantine, Crittenden, Gainey, Holt, Hundley, Hunnicutt, Koenigsmark, Laneve, Mullins, Pierson, Robinson, Price, Regelsky, Slack, Spadafore, Tauck, Watrous, White and Witting for completion. Overall, this is an attractive mid-grade set that has an aggregate grade of nearly EX. Also includes nine (eight are large-sized) stickers/transfers.
