Graded NM-MT 8 by PSA. Hall of famer, in his Rookie Card appearance. Among more than 960 copies recorded in PSA's census reporting, just five examples have been placed at a higher, unqualified tier. The short-printed rookie card of Bill Russell is the key in its celebrated production, and it is one of the most important basketball cards ever made. Cards from Topps' 1957/58 release are typically affected by frustrating inadequacies in their presentation; most common among these are woeful print quality and obtrusive "snow" that disrupts aesthetics. Those unfortunate generalities only serve to emphasize the exceptional rendering of the offered specimen. This one excels where virtually all of its contemporaries fall short. Its printing is superb with almost no distracting snow or dots. The corners are razor-sharp and, complemented by a superlative measure of gloss, accentuate the card's pack-fresh appearance.
