Graded VG-EX 4 by PSA. One of the most elusive variation cards of modern times was created by the factory's application of a bit too little ink in the printing of the Phillies infielder's surname: what should have been "Herrera" on his 1958 Topps card's obverse became "Herrer" on just a tiny number of copies. The rarity is demonstrated here in a brightly colored example that displays only routine traces of past circulation. Its cardfront presentation is crisp and bright, and the essentially complete omission of the final vowel – an extra-special phenomenon on a well-preserved specimen like this one – is a sight that will bring gratification to the most serious and discriminating specialist. PSA has validated fewer than sixty examples of this sought-after piece. Clean Very Good to Excellent condition.
