The 1958 season for the Dodger organization was both exciting and tragic. It was their first season on the west coast, playing in Los Angeles after their move from Brooklyn, but also tragic as their perennial MVP caliber catcher Roy Campanella career was cut short by a car accident which left him paralyzed. This accident and other issues left the Dodgers in the second division for the first time in almost two decades. This yellowed Official National League Giles ball contains 24 bold, blue ink signatures (“7-10”) with Walter Alston and Charlie Dressen (Label), Duke Snider, Carl Erskine, Don Drysdale, Sandy Koufax and Don Zimmer (east panel); Carl Furillo, Gino Cimoli, Dan McDevitt, Rube Walker, Jackie Collum and Elmer Valo (west panel); Ransom Jackson, Jim Gilliam, Charley Neal, Gil Hodges, Pee Wee Reese and Roger Craig (north panel); Don Newcombe, Greg Mulleavy, Joe Pignatano, Johnny Podres and Clem Labine (south panel). This baseball comes with a full LOA from JSA (Y33592).
