The Los Angeles Dodgers wasted no time in bringing championship ball to the West Coast. Just one year after relocating from Brooklyn, the Dodgers took the 1959 National League pennant after beating the Milwaukee Braves in a best-of-three playoff, then overcame the Chicago White Sox for the World Championship. The 1959 team was the perfect combination of the old “Boys of Summer” of Duke Snider, Pee Wee Reese and Gil Hodges and the future dynasty of Sandy Koufax, Don Drysdale and Maury Wills.
27 members of the World Champion Los Angeles Dodgers have signed this Official Tri-County League baseball. Hall of Fame manager Walter Alston’s signature and a clubhouse signature of Carl Furillo is on the sweet spot. Hall of Famers Sandy Koufax, Duke Synder and Don Drysdale have signed this ball with other signatures including Wally Moon, Norm Larker, Jim Gilliam, Rip Repulski, John Roseboro, Joe Pignatano, Dick Gray, Bob Lillis, Clem Labine, Danny McDevitt, Johnny Podres, Charlie Neal, Johnny Klilppstein, Art Fowler and others. This baseball comes from the collection of the late Gene Autry and a LOA from his widow Jacqueline Autry will accompany this item. Additionally, there is a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A52553) for the signatures. Please note that Beckett has deemed the signatures of Carl Furillo and Carl Erskine clubhouse versions.
