Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this 1962 IONA Catholic High School Tournament First Place trophy in 1962 in his freshman season of high school basketball at Power Memorial Academy. Abdul-Jabbar led Power to three New York City Catholic titles and a 71-game winning streak that started at the 1962 IONA tournament. Abdul-Jabbar, then known as Lew Alcindor, was tapped for greatness in high school as the recipient of consecutive Mr. Basketball USA awards in 1964 and 1965. This trophy measures approximately 15 inches tall. The base of the statue measures 3.5 x 4 inches. A rare pre-college award presented to one of the greatest basketball players of all-time and this item derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
