The Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this Catholic High School Athletic Association All-C.H.S.A.A. Tournament Team award in 1963. Abdul-Jabbar, then known as Lew Alcindor, was one of New York’s greatest prep basketball players for Power Memorial Academy in the early 1960’s. Abdul-Jabbar led Power on an unprecedented 71-game winning streak and three consecutive C.H.S.A.A. titles. This offered trophy is a gold-colored basketball perched on a circular base. The base has a diameter of five inches and the trophy measures approximately five inches tall. Etched on the top of the base is “All C.H.S.A.A. Tournament Team 1963” and “The John Norton Memorial Award”. Please note that due to age, some of the gold plating on the basketball has chipped away. Despite the slight imperfection, this trophy is an outstanding display piece and a true piece of basketball history originating from Abdul-Jabbar’s personal collection of memorabilia. This item comes with a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
