The Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this Block “M” Dinner plaque by the Mount St. Michael Men’s Club in 1964. At the time, the player then known as Lew Alcindor was dominating the New York prep scene with Power Memorial Academy, leading Power to an unprecedented 71-game winning streak. The 1965 iteration of the Power basketball five was named the greatest high school basketball team of the 20th century by numerous publications. This plaque, from the 10th Annual Block “M” Dinner, is in the shape of a shield measuring 7 x 8 inches at its widest dimensions. A placard on this award reads “Mount St. Michael / 10th Annual / Block ‘M’ Dinner / 1964 / Lew Alcindor”. This item comes with a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
