Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was awarded with this Holcombe Rucker Memorial Plaque for his exemplary performances in the 1965 Rucker League. The best basketball players in the world played at Rucker Park, from Wilt, Kareem, and Tiny to “Pee Wee” Kirkland, Earl Manigault, and Joe “The Destroyer” Hammond. Abdul-Jabbar was awarded this plaque on April 17th, 1965, less than a month after Holcombe Rucker’s tragic death at the age of 38. The plaque measures 10 x 7.5 inches at its widest dimensions. A placard affixed to the front of the award reads “Holcombe Rucker Memorial Plaque / Outstanding Player High School Div. / April 17, 1965 / Donated by Ambassador A.A.”. This item comes with a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.
