Presented here is a game used Detroit Tigers jersey and pants worn by former Detroit Tigers second baseman Jerry Lumpe during the 1966 season. Lumpe posted an average of .231 with 89 hits and 1 home run, and 26 RBI during his penultimate season. This seven-button gray flannel jersey features “DETROIT” across the chest in navy tackle twill. The number “9” appears on the right sleeve. A MacGregor size “42” manufacturer’s tag rests on the inside collar. The number “9” appears on the back of the jersey in navy tackle twill. The jersey displays moderate evidence of game use and contains faint sweat stains around the collar and a small hole on the left front tail. The three-button gray flannel pants feature the number “37” written in black marker by an unknown hand on the inside waistband. A MacGregor “SET 2 1966 MADE IN U.S.A.” manufacturer’s tag with a “WASH IN LUKEWARM WATER 100F WITH MILD SOAP. DO NOT USE BLEACH. DO NOT TUMBLE OR USE AUTOMATIC DRYER” tag below appears on the pants. Blue piping runs the length of the pants. The pants display heavy evidence of game use and contain wear in the crotch, faint stains running the length of the outside waistband, small brown stains on the inside left leg and a small tear and stain near the crotch. The Detroit Tigers jersey and pants worn by Jerry Lumpe during the 1966 season comes with an LOA from the Lumpe Family and a LOA from noted baseball jersey expert William Henderson for game use.
