The Brazilian soccer club Grêmio Foot-Ball Porto Alegrense presented the Brazilian National Soccer Team with this award in honor of Brazil’s participation in the 1966 FIFA World Cup. Grêmio sent one player to the 1966 World Cup, the 20-year old forward Alcindo, who finished his Grêmio career as their all-time leading scorer, with 636 goals. The entirety of the Brazilian team were based in Brazil, including the stars Pele, Djalma Santos, Garrincha, and Jairzinho.

This offered award was presented to the Brazilian team in early May, before the 1966 World Cup began. A plaque on this award is etched with “Aos Dirigentes a Atletas da Selecao Brasileira a confianca do Grêmio Foot Ball Porto Alegrense” and “Porto Alegre, 1 de maio de 1966”. This historic award is in good condition.
