Graded NM-MT+ 8.5 by SGC. Hall of Famer, in his "Rookie Card" appearance. Among almost 1,900 copies recorded in SGC's census reporting, just twenty examples have been graded higher. This is the cherished debut card of the youthful paragon. As a young hurler, Ryan was erratic with his pitches. But, what he lacked in control he made up for with speed. And who could have known that after one of the longest careers in Major League history, from 1966 to 1993, he would set so many records? (Most notably, 5,714 strikeouts and seven no-hitters.) Ryan became to pitching what Lou Gehrig was to fielding and hitting, a veritable "Iron Man." This foundation piece from Ryan's great career is virtually flawless. The card's corners are impeccable, and its inking is superior in every respect. An exceptional Ryan Rookie Card, in Near Mint to Mint-plus condition.
