Nicknamed “The Baby Bull”, Hall of Famer Orlando Cepeda spent his first season with the Atlanta Braves in 1969 after spending the previous 11 seasons with the San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals. Cepeda had a solid season in Atlanta in 1969 where he hit 22 home runs and drove in 88 as he helped lead the Braves to a division title in the first season of division play. Presented here is an Atlanta Braves gray flannel button-down jersey worn by Cepeda during the 1969 season. The front of this jersey has the “Braves” wordmark sewn on in navy and red tackle twill. The inside collar has the team tag with “30 44 69” embroidered indicating the player, size and year of this jersey. The front left tail has the Spalding and “44” tags, along with a wash instructions tag with a “SET 1 1969” flag attached. The back of this jersey has Cepeda’s number “30” sewn on in navy and red tackle twill. The left sleeve has the “screaming brave” logo patch, while the right sleeve has MLB 100TH ANNIVERSARY patch. Please note that this is not the original patch to the jersey. This jersey displays outstanding game use with soil stains and other markings and Cepeda has signed this jersey in black marker in large print above his number on the back. All of the letters, numbers and tagging are original to the jersey, save for the aforementioned MLB 100 patch. Accordingly, this jersey has been given a very high grade of A9.5 from the game used jersey experts at MEARS, with the only deduction coming from the replacement patch. This comes with a LOA from MEARS (306427) for the game use with the aforementioned very high grade of A9.5. Additionally, there is a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
