Offered is an attractive collection of sixty-two issues of "The Sporting News" from 1970 to 1973. Published once a week, these magazines provided in-depth accounts of things regarding our "National Pastime." Approximately twenty of the issues feature Hall of Famer covers, and include various special issues (ABA All-Star Game, Another Crown - O's, Excitement at Indy, O's Meal Tickets, Season Opening, Super Bowl Issue, and more) from various sports. Key names include: Lew Alcindor, Johnny Bench, Steve Carlton, John Havlicek, Reggie Jackson, Al Kaline, Willie Mays, Brooks Robinson, Pete Rose, Willie Stargell and Johnny Unitas. Overall, the magazines (which lack the mailing labels as they were purchased at the newsstand) were lightly read, stored flat for nearly fifty years and mostly present at the EX to NM level (some lesser).
