Goldin Auctions had handled may of the biggest contract ever signed and executed, including several form Babe Ruth, one which realized over $1,000,000. However, when contracts are signed by player and management, they are then sent to the League Office for final League approval. This creates many extra handlers and contracts have all sorts of condition flaws. This 1972 contract between Frank Edwin McGraw and Metropolitan Baseball Club, Inc is extremely clean with a single vertical crease near the bottom edge of the fold. There are no stains, extraneous markings and all the information is clean and legible, with some very light peripheral edge wear. The contract is the standard baseball document, calling for Tug McGraw to earn $50,000 for the season. It was signed on January 31. 1972 in blue ballpoint pen by “Frank E. McGraw, Jr.” and “Robert B. Scheffing” VP and GM of the Mets. In addition, the signature of Chub Feeney, President of the National League is below (dated February 6, 1972). There is a league date stamp of “NATIONAL LEAGUE FEB 7 10:06 AM ‘72”. This is a tremendous example of a player and league executed contract, in wonderfully clean condition and comes with a PSA/DNA STICKER ONLY (C38218).
