As the centerfielder for the Brooklyn Dodgers during their heyday in the 1950s, Duke Snider was one of the most popular players in the game. The Duke launched 407 home runs out of National League ballparks, appearing in 8 All-Star Games and leading Brooklyn to their one and only World Championship. In that 1955 World Series, Snider’s four home runs proved to be the difference in finally defeating the dreaded New York Yankees.

This bat, used by Snider post-career, circa 1973-1975, shows the kind of barrel wear that befits a Hall of Fame slugger of his stature. The Duke’s Hillerich & Bradsby C117 model bat shows heavy use. The barrel contains many ball marks and scuffs. There are cleat imprints visible and abrasions from contact with other equipment. The handle has a moderate coat of pine tar with the residue of adhesive tape still present. There is a small square are near the knob that looks to have been repaired and a small piece missing from the knob end. To cap off this post-career club, Snider has signed the barrel in black marker, adding “HOF 80.” This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18237) for the game use and LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A25588) for the signature.
