Hall of Famer Jim Rice had his first full season with the Boston Red Sox in 1975, after a brief stint in 1974. Along with fellow rookie Fred Lynn, the duo launched the Red Sox to the top of the American League East title, where they would then knock off the 3-time defending champion Oakland A’s and push the mighty Big Red Machine Cincinnati Reds to seven games of the 1975 World Series. Rice’s debut season saw the big righty belt 22 home runs with 102 RBI on a .309 average.

Offered here is an Adirondack 270X model bat used by Jim Rice circa 1975. This bat displays outstanding game use with a crack on the handle. There are ball marks, stitch impressions and finish loss on the barrel. The handle was taped in a spiral pattern to enhance the grip and the tape itself has been removed. The bat’s model number “270X” is stamped on the knob and the Hall of Famer Rice has signed his name on the barrel in black marker. Please note that Rice’s signature is affected by the grain of the wood. One of the earliest Jim Rice bats to come up for auction and this bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B25710) for the game use and has been given a high grade of GU 8.5. Additionally, there is a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature.
