Legendary Pittsburgh Steelers defensive tackle Mean Joe Greene wore these red pants during the 1975 Pro Bowl and the offered white shirt during Pro Bowl practices. Greene led the Steelers to their first ever Super Bowl title in the 1974 NFL season, dominating an overmatched Minnesota Vikings team 16-6 at Tulane Stadium in Super Bowl IX. The 1975 Pro Bowl was held on January 20th, 1975 at the Orange Bowl in Miami, with John Madden coaching Greene’s AFC team and Chuck Knox heading up the NFC squadron. The NFC would triumph over the AFC by a score of 17-10.

The offered pants in this lot are red, with a white-blue-white stripe running down each leg. The front of the pants is a lace-up and white mesh is present inside the pants. A Rawlings size “38” tag is sewn on the front inside of the pants. Washing instructions and a size “L” tag are also sewn inside the pants. Greene’s number “75” is handwritten on the inside waistband in black marker. Also included in this lot is Greene’s practice shirt from the 1975 Pro Bowl. “1975 AFC Pro Bowl” is screen printed on the chest of this white shirt in red lettering. The sleeves and collar are accented in red. A size “50” flag bearing a handwritten “75” is located on the back inside collar. This shirt and pants come with a Letter of Provenance from the original purchaser of these items.
