Gene Autry, nicknamed “The Singing Cowboy,” was a singer, songwriter, actor, musician and rodeo performer who gained fame largely by singing in a crooning style on radio, in films, and on television for more than three decades beginning in the early 1930s. Autry was the owner of a television station, several radio stations in Southern California, and the Los Angeles/California/Anaheim Angels Major League Baseball team from 1961 to his death in 1997. He is best known to current generations as the writer of the hit song, “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer.”

Offered is a commemorative marble desk pen holder featuring a multi-signed baseball with 33 signatures in blue pen of players in attendance at the California Angels Old Timers Game from Anaheim Stadium in 1976. Notable among the signatures on the baseball are Bob Clear, Jim Frey, Joe Rudi, Bert Campaneris, Bob Grich and Don Baylor. The multi-signed baseball is stored in a clear plastic holder atop the 4 ½ x 10-inch white marble base, with a pair of silver metal pen holders at either side of the ball. The base has a silver metal plaque with the inscription, in black, “Angels Oldtimers Game Anaheim Stadium – 1976 Gene Autry”.  This item comes with a LOA from Jackie Autry.
