Hall of Fame closer Bruce Sutter spent the first five seasons of his career with the Chicago Cubs before moving on to the St. Louis Cardinals. During his rookie season of 1976, Sutter earned his first 10 saves of his career, as he pitched to a 2.70 ERA and a 6-3 record.

Sutter wore this pullover home Chicago Cubs pinstriped jersey during his rookie season of 1976. This size 44 jersey was manufactured by Wilson and features the Cubs’ logo patch sewn on the upper left chest. The back of the jersey has the number “44” sewn on in blue tackle twill. The right “4” on the jersey was added after Sutter wore this jersey as it was most likely recycled for additional use as there are remnants of the original “2”, which Sutter wore “42” in 1976. This is evident in the collar tagging as the inside back collar has the team strip tag that reads “42 76 2 44” – with “42” representing the player number.

There is a blue V-neck collar and the sleeve ends are capped with blue stripes. The left sleeve has a Cubs “1876-1976” centennial patch, while the right sleeve has the “National League 1876-1976” centennial patch. A “76” patch is sewn on the bottom front left tail and Sutter has signed his name in black marker on the front of the jersey inscribing “#42”. This jersey comes with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication for the game use and a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A56148) for the signature.
