A great gamer from some of Gaylord Perry’s best seasons. Perry was at his finest in 1978, claiming the National League Cy Young award with a 21-6 record and 2.73 ERA. This was Perry’s second Cy after winning the American League award in 1972 with the Cleveland Indians. Thanks to Perry’s excellent pitching at the top of the rotation, the Padres finished with their first-ever winning record in 1978. Perry had a solid season in 1979, recording a 12-11 record with a 3.06 ERA, retiring after the 1983 season with 314 wins to his name, and was inducted into the National Baseball Hall of Fame in 1991. This Hillerich & Bradsby R203 model bat is un-cracked and shows excellent use and was used by Perry during the 1977-1979 seasons. Several ball marks with stitch impressions are visible on the right, left and back barrel and a light coat of pine tar is found on the handle. Perry’s number “36” is hand written on the knob in black marker and the Hall of Famer has signed the barrel in black marker. The bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B15039) for the game use and has been graded a perfect GU 10, plus a LOA from JSA (Z67429) for the signature.
