Dallas Cowboys Hall of Fame tailback Tony Dorsett wore this white Cowboys home jersey circa 1977-79. Dorsett, the 1976 Heisman Trophy winner for the University of Pittsburgh, was selected by the Cowboys with the second overall pick of the 1977 NFL Draft. Dorsett continued his collegiate success in the NFL, rushing for 1,007 yards and 12 touchdowns on only 208 carries during his rookie season of 1977. The Cowboys went 12-2 in 1977, winning Super Bowl XII 27-10 over the Denver Broncos. Dorsett rushed for 66 yards in the Super Bowl, opening the game’s scoring with a three-yard touchdown plunge in the first quarter.
Dorsett picked up where he left off in 1978, rushing for 1,325 yards and catching 37 passes for 378 receiving yards as the Cowboys undisputed feature back. Dorsett started 14 games in 1979, rushing for 1,107 yards and six touchdowns in his age-25 season. Dorsett rushed for an outstanding 12,739 yards and 77 touchdowns in his exemplary 12-season career. A four-time Pro Bowler, Dorsett was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1994.
This offered Cowboys home white mesh jersey has Dorsett’s iconic number “33” applied to the chest, back, and shoulders in blue. Two black-blue-black stripes accent each sleeve. “DORSETT” is printed across the back shoulders in blue lettering over a matching white nameplate. A Southland tag with an attached size “46” flag is sewn on the back inside collar. Dorsett has signed the back outside collar of this jersey in blue marker, inscribing “Heisman 76” and “H.O.F. 94” in addition to his signature.
