Among more than 3,500 copies recorded in PSA’s census reporting, fewer than two percent have attained the company's highest tier. Swept into a dynasty not dissimilar to Jordan's Bulls or Mantle's Yankees, Larry Bird was long the standard bearer for the perennially dominant Boston Celtics. The 1980/81 season, with Bird's meaningful contribution, culminated in yet another banner for the Celts and the rookie's first NBA Championship.
