Led by quarterback Joe Montana – who passed for 3,565 yards – the 1981 San Francisco 49ers cruised to a 13-3 regular season record. Montana had some fantastic options to throw to, as Dwight Clark led the team with 85 receptions and 1,105 receiving yards, while Freddie Solomon posted team-highs of 16.4 yards per catch and eight touchdowns. Defensively, Dwight Hicks recorded nine interceptions; Ronnie Lott had seven interceptions, three of which were returned for TDs. After defeating the New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys, head coach Bill Walsh’s 49ers squad beat the Cincinnati Bengals, 26-21, to win Super Bowl XVI. Presented here is a 1981 San Francisco 49ers Super Bowl XVI ring box. This metal and red felt presentation box features a plate that displays an image of a 49ers helmet and reads “SAN FRANCISCO FORTY NINERS WORLD FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS 1981”. On the inside of the box lid reads “49ERS FAMILY” in team font. Comes with the owner's original purchase LOA.
