Coming out of DePaul University, Terry Cummings was a consensus first team All-American, and was the second overall pick in the 1982 Draft becoming a member of the San Diego Clippers. That first season Cummings averaged just under 24 points and 11 rebounds per game, and was a lock for various NBA Rookie of the Year awards, once where he was presented with this trophy presented by an NBA sponsor.
The 17.625 x 12 x 6.5 inch trophy features a large acrylic topper cut with the NBA “Jerry West” logo, which is atop a large wooden base. The base plaque reads, “ROOKIE OF THE YEAR / 1982 – 1983 / TERRY CUMMINGS / SAN DIEGO CLIPPERS / PRESENTED BY MILLER HIGH LIFE”, and exhibits a bit or tarnish and a few areas of scratches. After two seasons in San Diego (now the Los Angeles Clippers), Cummings was traded to the Milwaukee Bucks where he had his best seasons as a pro. Certainly a one-of-a-kind item, this NBA ROY trophy is a must for the serious basketball collector. This item comes with a full LOA from Terry Cummings.
