Hall of Famer Reggie Jackson was one of the premiere sluggers during his playing days, helping his teams win five World Series titles, while he himself won two World Series MVPs, an American League MVP award and slugged 563 career home runs. His signature moment of three home runs on three swings in Game 6 of the 1977 World Series is one of the greatest individual feats in World Series history.

After five seasons in the Bronx with the New York Yankees, Jackson signed with the California Angels and immediately paid dividends. His first season in 1982, he led the American League in home runs with 39 and the Angels made their second postseason appearance after winning the American League Western Division title with a 93-69 record. In the three-season span of 1982-84, Jackson would average 26 home runs and 77 RBI.

This offered gray road California Angels uniform with a pullover jersey, pants and red stirrups were worn by Jackson during the 1982-84 era. Based upon the jersey’s tagging and the absence of sleeve patches that were unique to the individual 1985 and 1986 seasons, this jersey has been dated to the 1982-84 seasons. “Angels” with Reggie’s number “44” below is sewn across the front in red and navy tackle twill. The back of the jersey has “JACKSON” stitched directly across the back with the number “44” below, all in red and navy tackle twill. The lower front tail has the “W.A. Goodman & Sons 48” manufacturers’ size tag. The left shoulder contains the Angles’ California state insignia patch. This jersey displays heavy game use with slight fraying of the stitching on the sewn-on letters and numbers and a 2mm small burn hole on the right sleeve. Jackson has signed his name in blue marker on the front of the jersey and inscribed “44” “Mr. October” and “HOF 93”.

Also included in this lot are a pair of matching road gray pants and red stirrups. The pants were also manufactured by W.A. Goodman & Sons and are a size 33. The Goodman tag and the team that reads “#44 33-26” is sewn on the inside waistband. The outer waistband and sides have navy/red/navy striping and display heavy game use with an approximate 4 ½ x 3 ½ -inch team repair just below the back-right pocket. There is also an approximate one-inch diameter hole on the bottom of the left back pocket and two small holes on the stripes of the upper left leg. Jackson has signed these pants on the upper right front leg in blue marker and inscribed “44”, “Mr. October” and “H.O.F. 93”. The red stirrups also display moderate to heavy use with team repairs and fading on the stirrup. This uniform comes with a LOA from the game used experts at MEARS (311026), who noted in their LOA that this uniform was presented to them by Reggie Jackson himself. MEARS have graded this jersey a near-perfect A9.5 and have authenticated the pants and stirrups as part of their evaluation process. The jersey and pants also come with individual LOAs from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A25474, A25475) for the signatures.
