The Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wore these blue Western Conference shorts during the 1982 NBA All-Star Game at Brendan Byrne Arena in East Rutherford, New Jersey. The Eastern Conference defeated the West in a nail-biter, 120-118. This was Abdul-Jabbar’s 12th All-Star Game in a 13-season career that would eventually see the former UCLA star named to 19 All-Star Game rosters. For the 1981-82 season, Abdul-Jabbar averaged 23.9 points, 8.7 rebounds, and 2.7 blocks per game for the 57-25 Lakers. In the playoffs, Abdul-Jabbar and the Lakers defeated the Phoenix Suns and San Antonio Spurs in two straight sweeps before unseating Julius Erving and the Philadelphia 76ers in a six-game Finals.

These shorts are blue, with a white-red-white waistband and a red and white stripe near the leg openings. Screen-printed in white letters on each leg is “WEST”. Each “WEST” logo is surrounded by four white stars and four red stars, which was unique to the 1982 All-Star Game style. A Medalist Sand-Knit size “38” tag is sewn on the back inside waistband next to a “33” tag. A washing instructions flag is located inside the shorts. These shorts originate from the personal collection of Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and are accompanied by a LOA signed by Kareem himself.
