Hall of Famer Cal Ripken had his breakout season in 1983 when he not only took home the American League MVP with his stellar season in which he led the AL with 211 hits and 121 runs scored, but also led the Baltimore Orioles to a World Series title. Ripken also belted 27 home runs and drove in 102 runs, while maintaining a lofty .318 average and earned his first of his 19 consecutive All-Star Game selections.

Ripken used this Rawlings XFG6-P model glove during his milestone individual and team success season. This glove displays outstanding game use with substantial wear on the pocket, face and web and was constructed of Rawlings premium grade Heart of the Hide tanned steer hide. The laces are a tanned rawhide and include a pro-style “Basket Web” with a closed “Fastback finger “Holdster”. The tips and back fingers display appropriate scuffing, consistent with use by a shortstop. The index finger sleeve above the “Holdster” is well depressed from Ripken’s extended index finger. There is an adjustable wrist strap and a dual-laced palm hinge. There is a red Rawlings wrist label and the embroidered Rawlings “R” logo is at the base of the outer web. The twin dot year code on the glove indicates the glove was manufactured in 1983. Ripken has signed his name in bold black marker along the outer middle finger. This glove comes from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this glove, along with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1G00700) for the game use.
