Presented is a 1984-85 Lou Holtz game worn Minnesota Golden Gophers jacket. This maroon satin jacket has the legend "Golden Gophers" in gold tackle-twill block letters sewn on the back, "Coach Holtz" embroidered in gold script on the right front chest, and a gold "M" patch sewn on the left front chest. The jacket features red elastic cloth at the next, the waist, and at both sleeve ends. Please note that there is a small moth hole below the letter "z" in Holtz's name on the right front chest. After successful head coaching stints with the College of William & Mary, NC State and Arkansas, Holtz accepted the head coaching job at the University of Minnesota before the 1984 season. The Golden Gophers had only won one game vs. Rice in 1983, but under Holtz won 4 games, including 3 in the Big Ten. In 1985 the team was 7-5 and were invited to the Independence Bowl, where they defeated Clemson, 20–13. Holtz did not coach the Gophers in that bowl game, as he had already accepted the head coaching position at Notre Dame. This item comes with a LOA from Holtz and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will be donated to the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
