Rooney was the owner of the Steelers from 1933 to 1988, with his son Art Rooney II currently serving as team president. The inscription on this football is dedicated to Dick Schaap, a decorated sportswriter and sportscaster during the latter half of the 20th century. Rooney has signed this football in black marker, inscribing “To Our Good Friend / Dick Schaap and family / Happy Healthy 1985” and “Pittsburgh Steelers Foot Ball Club / Super Bowl Champions / IX – X – XII – XIV”.
