Former Major League manager Jim Leyland won 1,769 games in 22 seasons as manager of the Pittsburgh Pirates, Florida Marlins, Colorado Rockies and Detroit Tigers. Leyland spent his first 11 of those seasons in Pittsburgh, where he was Manager of the Year in 1990 and 1992, leading the Pirates to three consecutive National League East titles. Leyland also was Manager of the Year for the Detroit Tigers in 2006.

Before taking over as skipper for the Pittsburgh Pirates, Leyland served as Tony La Russa’s third base coach for the Chicago White Sox from 1982-1985. Leyland wore this size 42 Sand-Knit road gray jersey during the 1985 season, his final season in Chicago. This gray pullover jersey has a thick blue stripe outlined in red across the chest that has “SOX” sewn on in white tackle twill. The striping pattern from the chest is that same on each sleeve and the v-neck collar has a blue and red pattern. The Medalist Sand-Knit tags are sewn on the bottom front left tail with the left tag reading “Designed & Tailored Exclusively for the CHICAGO WHITE SOX”. The back of the jersey has “LEYLAND” and his number “21” sewn on in navy blue tackle twill. The inside bottom back tail has two team strip tags that read “85 * 42” and “LEYLAND” which is hand written, a common practice for 1985 game used White Sox jerseys. The left sleeve has a commemorative “75th YEARS COMISKEY PARK” patch sewn on. Leyland signed his name on the top bar of the “2” in silver marker and inscribed “Game Used 1985” on the bottom bar of the “2”. This jersey shows moderate use and comes with a STICKER ONLY from Beckett Authentication (B53116) for the signature and a LOA from MEARS for the game use and has been graded a perfect A10.
