As a young man, Tupac Shakur lived a somewhat nomadic lifestyle, moving from Harlem to Baltimore to Oakland, California. Throughout his early life, Tupac immersed himself in literature and the arts. He wrote poetry, danced, and acted in numerous plays at The Baltimore School for the Arts and Tamalpais High School in California. Later in his career, Tupac would star in numerous critically acclaimed movies, including Juice and Above the Rim. Tupac honed his acting skills during his time at Roland Park Middle School in Baltimore, when he twice checked the book “Young Actors’ Workbook” out of the school library. The item offered here is the checkout slip from the back of the “Young Actors’ Workbook”. Tupac has signed the top two lines of this slip in grey pencil, checking it out on February 20th and 27th, 1985. He also wrote down his class as “8-15” both times. These two signatures represent incredible early autographs from one of raps most enduring icons and a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Due to the age of Tupac at the time, and the lack of contemporary exemplars, this signature will be unable to be authenticated by an autograph authentication service. This item comes with a Letter of Provenance from the mother of a former student at Roland Park Middle School.
