Jose Canseco used this Rawlings 390X model bat during his first full season in the majors with the Oakland Athletics. That summer, 1986, Canseco hit 33 home runs and batted in 117 runs as he became the first Oakland player to win Rookie of the Year honors. The youngster would pair up with first baseman Mark McGwire to form the “Bash Brothers” duo that would wreck-havoc with AL pitching and lead the A’s to a couple of pennants and a World Championship in 1989. Canseco’s rookie year bat shows great game use with a handle crack. The barrel shows many ball marks that include stitch impressions along with bat rack paint streaks. The handle has a moderate coat of pine tar and the knob has Canseco’s number “33” handwritten in black marker. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B18459) for the game use and has been graded a solid GU 8.
