With the Mets running away with the National League Eastern division, they called upon a handful of young talent in September to help give the veterans some much needed rest and try out their future prospects. One of those September call ups was 22 year old defensive specialist short stop Kevin Elster. Elster wouldn't make much of an impact on this already stacked New York Mets team who finished 21.5 games ahead of the Phillies to take the divisional crown, but he would go on to set the Major League record for games without an error by a shortstop in the following seasons. The Mets would use their momentum to steam roll the Astros in the NLCS and then finish off the Red Sox with their improbable come from behind World Series Championship.

This black Louisville Slugger bat bears the "World Series" labeling and according to Elster, is the only World Series bat he received. Additionally the bat has been signed by the majority of the World Champions including Doc Gooden, Gary Carter, Daryl Strawberry, Lenny Dykstra, Mel Stottlmeyre, and many others in Silver paint pen. The bat comes with a letter of provenance from Kevin Elster.
