Offfered is a 1987 Paul "Bear" Bryant FWAA/ Coach of the Year Award presented to Lou Holtz. The 8 1/2 x 7-inch black stone and glass trophy features a carved image of the legendary Alabama football coach Bear Bryant engraved in the upper left of the glass plaque, above the engraved legend "Paul "Bear" Bryant FWAA/Coach of the Year Award Banquet December 17, 1987" in the center, with the logo "American Heart Association Houston Division" carved in the lower left. The plaque is mounted above a 7 x 7-inch black stone base, which has a 3 1/2-inch high carved glass football mounted at the right, and the legend "Lou Holtz University of Notre Dame" engraved at the left. During his second season as head coach of the Fighting Irish, Holtz led the squad to an 8-4 record, with a loss in the Cotton Bowl to Texas A&M, 35-10, in the season finale. This item comes with a LOA from Holtz and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will be donated to the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
