Scanning back through auction records of the past 15 years reveals just one other 1987 Redskins championship player's ring ever offered—defensive back Tim Morrison's example that sold for just shy of $19,000 in 2007. But presented here is the far superior ring of Redskins legend Mark Rypien. A Super Bowl MVP and the first Canadian-born NFL starting QB, "Ryp" passed for over 15,000 career yards and 100 TDs while earning a reputation for excelling in the clutch. His 11 game-winning drives and 8 fourth-quarter comebacks both rank in the franchise's all-time Top 5. Yet Rypien will always be best remembered for his 292-yd., 2-TD performance in Super Bowl XXVI as the 'Skins beat the Bills 37-20. This colossal, diamond-encrusted crown jewel hails from Rypien's sophomore-season championship as back-up to Doug Williams. Manufactured by Tiffany & Co., the 10K-gold, size 11 ring features shanks designs incorporating team and SB logos; "Rypien / 11"; "HAIL TO THE REDSKINS / 42-10"; and D.C. iconography of the Washington Monument, Capitol Building and Lincoln Memorial. Exceptional NM condition. Accompanied by a rosewood presentation box and Rypien's 2013 signed LOA reading, "I, Mark Rypien played in the NFL from 1986 through 2002 including 7 seasons with the Washington Redskins. I was part of 2 Super Bowl winning teams and I was named the MVP of Super Bowl XXVI. This is the Super Bowl ring that I received after our Washington Redskins beat the Denver Broncos 42-10 in Super Bowl XXII."
