The legendary coach Jimmie Reese wore this white California Angels jersey during the 1988 MLB season. Reese, still going strong at the ripe old age of 87, served as a coach for the Angels until his death in 1994 as a master fungo hitter and a staid presence in the clubhouse. Reese played for the New York Yankees (where he is famous for being roommates with Babe Ruth!) and St. Louis Cardinals from 1930 to 1932, as well as playing in the Pacific Coast League for many years. Reese’s number “50” has been retired by the Angels, and he was inducted into the PCL Hall of Fame in 2003. This white pullover jersey has “Angels” sewn across the chest in red and navy tackle twill. A yellow and navy tackle twill halo is sewn around the “A” in “Angels”. Reese’s number “50” is sewn on the chest and back of this jersey in red and navy tackle twill. “REESE” is sewn across the back shoulders in red and navy tackle twill over a matching white nameplate. An Angels logo patch is sewn on the left sleeve and a Rawlings wordmark is sewn on the right sleeve. A Rawlings size “42” tag and a “T” tag are sewn on the inside tail of the jersey. A “Set 1 1988” flag is attached to the Rawlings tag and “Purchased From California Angels” is stamped below the Rawlings tag. This jersey displays light to moderate wear and comes with a LOA from noted game used jersey expert Dave Miedema.
