The Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar wore this red Western Conference uniform in the 1988 NBA All-Star Game at Chicago Stadium. Abdul-Jabbar, playing in his 18th All-Star Game, scored 10 points with four rebounds in the Western Conference’s 138-133 defeat to Michael Jordan and the Eastern Conference. This was the penultimate All-Star appearance of Abdul-Jabbar’s legendary career, as the former UCLA center retired after the 1988-89 NBA season as the all-time leading scorer in the history of the sport. For the 1987-88 season, Abdul-Jabbar averaged 14.6 points and 6 rebounds per game for the 62-20 Lakers, who would go on to defeat the Detroit Pistons in a seven-game NBA Finals. In 1995, Abdul-Jabbar was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Hall of Fame.

This offered uniform includes Abdul-Jabbar’s jersey and shorts from the 1988 NBA All-Star Game. The jersey is red, with “NBA All-Star” screen-printed on the chest in white and blue lettering. An NBA logo is applied to the jersey next to the “NBA” and Abdul-Jabbar’s number “33” is applied to the chest in white numerals. An NBA logo patch is sewn on the left shoulder, while six white and blue stars are printed down each side of the jersey. “ABDUL-JABBAR” and a second “33” are printed on the back in white. A MacGregor Sand-Knit size “44” tag is sewn on the front left tail. Abdul-Jabbar has signed the second “3” on the chest of the jersey in black marker.

The shorts are red as well, with white and blue accents. “WEST” is screen-printed vertically on each leg in white and blue lettering. Two white and blue stars are printed next to each “WEST” wordmark. A MacGregor Sand-Knit size “44” tag and a tag with a handwritten “33” are sewn on the inside waistband of these shorts. An “02” flag is attached to the Sand-Knit tag.
