The Hall of Fame center Kareem Abdul-Jabbar was presented with this glass ice bucket by the New Jersey Nets during his farewell tour in the 1988-89 NBA season. Abdul-Jabbar was drafted by the Nets during their days as the ABA New York Nets in 1969 at the same time as his selection in the NBA Draft, leading to rampant speculation as to where Abdul-Jabbar would begin his professional career. NBA pundits predicted that Abdul-Jabbar would sign with his hometown Nets, however the young Bruin bucked expectations and signed with Milwaukee in the NBA due to their more lucrative initial contract offer. This offered ice bucket has two handles and measures approximately 6.25 inches tall. Printed on the transparent ice bucket is “Kareem Abdul-Jabbar / Thanks For The Memories / New Jersey Nets / December 14, 1988”. Please note two small chips are present on the rim of the ice bucket. This item comes with a LOA signed by Kareem Abdul-Jabbar himself.
