Presented here is the game ball used in Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s final NBA game on June 13th, 1989. The game, an NBA Finals matchup against the “Bad Boy” Detroit Pistons, ended 105-97 in favor of Detroit, ending Los Angeles’ season and Kareem’s incredible, record-breaking career. Abdul-Jabbar ended his 20-season career with 38,387 points, 19 All-Star appearances, six NBA MVPs, and six NBA titles. 

The offered Spalding basketball has “Los Angeles Lakers” printed in small letters on one panel, and NBA Commissioner David Stern’s facsimile signature printed on the ball as well. Abdul-Jabbar has signed this basketball in black marker. “Final Playoff Game Ball” is written in black marker near Abdul-Jabbar’s signature. A white piece of tape with “Game Ball 6-13-89” written on it in black marker is adhered to this basketball. With this ball Kareem scored the final points of his NBA career. At the same time that occurred, the Detroit Pistons won their 1st ever NBA Championship with this basketball, making it doubly significant. The basketball comes in a displayed on a wooden pedestal with the Lakers logo etched in high relief on the pedestal. This item derives directly from Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and a personally hand-signed LOA from Kareem will accompany this item.
