After dropping the first two games of the 1990 NBA Eastern Conference Finals, Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls returned home to cozy confines of Chicago Stadium. In front of a packed house of 18,676 fans, Whitney Houston would sing the national anthem, which was only eight months prior to her singing one of the most powerful renditions of the Star-Spangled Banner before Super Bowl XXV.

Facing a must-win game, Michael Jordan, using these offered size 13 Nike Air Jordan V sneakers, poured in 47 points as the Bulls edged closer to the “Bad Boys” Detroit Pistons by beating them 107-102. In addition to the 47 points, Jordan grabbed 10 rebounds and dished out four assists in leading Chicago to victory. These all-black sneakers have a reflective tongue, clear rubber outsoles and fit-engineered lace locks. “Nike Air” and the “swoosh” are embroidered in white on the back of the heels and Jordan’s famed number “23” is embroidered in white on the outside portion of the back of the foot. These sneakers show considerable game wear with the rubber outsoles cracking and loose in some areas.

Adding to the allure of these gamers is that these were given to Whitney Houston following Game 3 of the 1990 NBA Eastern Conference Finals. Included with this lot are Books 1 & 2 of Michael Jordan’s book “For The Love Of The Game” that come in a special holder. Jordan signed this cover to Whitney Houston in black pen and inscribed “To Whitney Still Love Your Music Much Love". In addition, there is a 5 x 7-inch black and photograph, matted and framed to a 6 x 8-inch dimension, of Jordan with Houston and Whitney holding these sneakers in her left hand. These classic game used Michael Jordan sneakers come with two Certificates of Authenticity from the Estate of Whitney E. Houston, signed by Marion P. Houston, the executor of Houston's estate, stating that the sneakers, photograph and signed/inscribed book were gifts of Michael Jordan to Whitney Houston. Jordan's signature comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A07880).
